About us

I first came across yoga when I tried out a local Iyengar yoga class over 10 years ago. I remember my first class like it was yesterday.  The class made me feel relaxed, calm and rested in myself, in contrast to most of the other activities which I have taken part in over the years, and which were mostly high intensity training or cardio.

From a young age I have always been involved in fitness and it gave me what I needed back then. My needs started to change when I noticed I was always busy, I never seemed to have time to look after my whole health and wellness. I took part in a variety of fitness activities which meant limited time for relaxing, recharging and restoring my mind and body. I needed to loosen up the mounting tension and become more adapted in my approach to whole health. Being a Teacher I often felt frazzled by the end of the school day and my energy levels and wellness were just not what they used to be, sure I could pick up a quick dopamine hit doing cardio, but something was missing. When I found yoga, it helped me find balance both on and off the mat, it gave me an effective wellness approach I could adopt and I’d feel great after I’d been in a class. Yoga gave me a boost I needed that I’d I not found in other activities or exercise.

My passion for health and wellness continued over the years and I continued to take part in different activities which yoga complemented. After over 10 years of yoga practice, I decided that I would love to pass on the wonderful practice of whole health and wellness and became a qualified yoga teacher myself, it just made sense. I have continued training since qualifying and I am currently studying for my advanced Yoga Teaching Qualification.

My qualifications and CPD’s are with; Yoga Alliance Professionals UK, BWY, Yoga Alliance and Yoga Campus

I chose the name for the business from a very beloved nanna, who loved the colour blue, and loved to look at cloud formations in the sky. She always found a silver lining around every cloud and was a true inspiration in my life.

In loving memory of Nanna Joan

Hatha Yoga is one of the most practiced forms of yoga. Hatha yoga is often practiced to improve strength, flexibility, release tension in the muscles, improve mental concentration, and experience meditative effects of yoga to calm both mind and body.

Hatha yoga is one of the most widely practiced yoga in the World.

Hatha yoga is ideal for beginners and those with experience.

Hatha Yoga is usually a gentler slower practice.

The various poses focus on balance, strength, flexibility, and alignment of the body.

Hatha Yoga includes:

Breathing techniques (pranayama) to access the rest and digest nervous system.

Bandhas are used to move energy around the body and to lock energy in specific energy centres or places in the body.

Meditation to experience mental and physical states of mind and to calm nervous system.

Mudras are used to re-direct energy around the Nadis (energy channels) to and through the energy centres and around specific areas of the body. They also help calm the mind.

Mantras (chanting) using the voice to exercise the vocals and calm the mind and release tension.

In Hatha yoga you are required to hold a pose for a period of time, rest, and then move the body to the next pose whilst coordinating and relaxing the breath.

Hatha yoga is considered one of the best yoga practices for beginners. No matter whether you are a beginner or an older adult, hatha yoga is good for most fitness and flexibility levels.
